Another week, and my game cam is still badly misaligned. So I ordered a new mount, and made another video.

So the tree one of my security cameras was on fell during a recent storm, and I had an aiming fail when I reinstalled it. So I made a music video for one of my favorite Jeffrey/Newsome songs.

I wrote this song about a character in another song on one of my favorite, obscure 70’s records.

Before I Fall
Well I guess we’ve put this off for another year
All that’s left is saying what no one wants to hear
I’ve got places I want to go
And you’ve got ones you don’t
So let me slide away before I fall
Chorus:
Watch me slip and slide as I go
A ghost out in the winter glow
I see the water below
So dark, so cold, so nice
Here on thin ice
I’ll miss those nights on the town all polished like chrome
But lately you’ve been staying pretty close to home
I only hope it’s by your choice
You can’t hear the siren with a rheumatoid voice
So let me slip away before I fall
Chorus
Watch me slip and slide as I go
A ghost out in the winter glow
I see the water below
So dark, so cold, so nice
Here on thin ice
Bridge
The light on your porch chases me like a lighthouse through the fog
A howl through the trees sounds a little bit like your dog
But there’s no point in turning around
There’s nothing back there that wants to be found
Chorus:
Watch me slip and slide as I go
A ghost out in the winter glow
I see the water below
So dark, so cold, so nice
Here on thin ice

I was honored by an article in a recent edition of The Houston Lawyer, on my music and songwriting endeavors.
Joe Middleton and I co-wrote Ghosts, as well as several other songs for his forthcoming record.

I’m wandering down these empty streets
Worn out shoes and blisters on my feet
All the roads that led me out of this town
Keep on calling me, bringing me right back around
I can see some old familiar places
But I sure miss all the friendly faces
That used to smile in passing on the street
Why won’t these memories just let me be
Chorus:
I can shake the sand from my shoes
But I can’t shake off these sandhill blues
Ghosts from my past are never far behind
The cloud my eyes and they haunt my mind
I thought they’d disappear with time
Oh, but I can’t seem to leave my ghosts behind
Every step I take is so bittersweet
When pieces of my past fall incomplete
It’s like some crazy game of lost & found
When the sentimental fool comes back to town
Chorus:
I can shake the sand from my shoes
But I can’t shake off these sandhill blues
Ghosts from my past are never far behind
The cloud my eyes and they haunt my mind
I thought they’d disappear with time
Oh, but I can’t seem to leave my ghosts behind
Bridge:
I keep on trying to run
But I’m not even sure what I’m running from
Maybe it’s time to let go of this fear
Of what I’ve been hiding from for all these years
I guess the one thing I wish I knew
Am I home or only passing through
Are these memories leading me astray
Or trying to help me find my way
Chorus:
I can shake the sand from my shoes
But I can’t shake off these sandhill blues
Ghosts from my past are never far behind
The cloud my eyes and they haunt my mind
I thought they’d disappear with time
Oh, but I can’t seem to leave my ghosts behind
They keep on haunting me…
They keep on following me…
