One I wrote with Bob Clay, after listening to a lot of Doors songs. My neighbor when I was a kid, Kelly Traynham, drove a blue impala for a while. I thought it was a cool car.
Hurry child and fetch the doctor
Tell him daddy has lost his mind
He seemed all right this morning
But he’s all wigged out tonight
Daddy drives a blue Impala
He bought it back in ’63
I used to drive that Impala
Till daddy took away the keys
Chorus:
I really miss that blue Impala
I’ll drive that car again someday
All the girls will surely love me
When I drive that Impala away
Daddy doesn’t trust my motives
I can’t believe that’s the way he feels
Cause I really love my father
Just not quite as much as his wheels
Chorus:
I really miss that blue Impala
I’ll drive that car again someday
All the girls will surely love me
When I drive that Impala away
Daddy he ain’t no spring chicken
You could say he is in decline
I bet it won’t be much longer
Till that blue Impala is mine
Chorus:
I really love that blue Impala
I’ll drive that car again someday
All the girls will surely love me
When I drive that Impala away
