A song I wrote with Rick Paul back in the day. I can barely remember where it came from, but I think it had do do with a friend of mine who plastered National Geographic maps all over his walls.

I’m from Cheraw, South Carolina
Lived there for seventeen years and ten months
My mother still lives in the house where I was born
I don’t get back there often enough

Chorus:
But I’ve got maps on my walls
I’ve got some really big plans
I’ve got maps on my walls
I’m a geography man

I’ve spent some time in Fort Worth
Got married there in ninety three
My grandmother never went to Texas
My sister lives in College Grove, Tennessee

Chorus:
But I’ve got maps on my walls
I’ve got some really big plans
I’ve got maps on my walls
I’m a geography man

Bridge:
Some of them came from National Geographic
A few came from the AAA
(or was that the AA)
One I stole from the library
The others, well I just can’t say

I’ve been to Charlottesville, Virginia
I’ve got a buddy who lives there
He married a rich man’s daughter
Now my buddy is a millionaire

Chorus:
But I’ve got maps on my walls
I’ve got some really big plans
Yes I’ve got maps on my walls
I’m a geography man

I like to watch the Weather Channel
And I read People Magazine
I keep a list of people I haven’t met
And I memorize places I’ve never been

Chorus:
But I’ve got maps on my walls
I’ve got some really big plans
I’ve got maps on my walls
I’m a geography man
